Belonging to the illustrious Suryavansha (Solar Dynasty), Lord Rama trace his lineage back to the Sun God (Surya Dev). Located 4 kilometers outside central Ayodhya at Chaudah Kosi Parikrama Marg, Surya Kund is a sprawling ancient water reservoir dedicated to Surya Dev, where King Dasharatha and ancient monarchs performed solar worship.

State-of-the-Art Evening Laser & Sound Spectacle

Under Uttar Pradesh Tourism’s modern redevelopment initiative, Surya Kund has been transformed into a world-class cultural destination. Every evening, visitors gather along the tiered amphitheater to witness:

  • 3D Laser Projection Mapping: High-powered lasers project crisp animations of the Ramayana and solar mythology onto a mist screen rising from the water.
  • Synchronized Musical Fountains: Colorful illuminated water jets choreographed to traditional Sanskrit strotras and classical instruments.
  • Illuminated Sun Temple: The restored ancient Surya temple glows brilliantly under dynamic architectural lighting.

Visitor Schedule & Practical Information

The laser and musical fountain show takes place every evening around 07:00 PM (winter) or 07:45 PM (summer). Entry is free of charge, with clean paved parking available for private cars and tourist buses.
