Making Sacred Darshan Accessible for Elderly Devotees
Millions of elderly devotees travel to Ayodhya to fulfill their lifelong dream of offering prayers before Ram Lalla. Recognizing that navigating long pedestrian corridors can be challenging for senior citizens, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust and local administration have instituted comprehensive accessibility infrastructure.
Accessibility Amenities Available on Ground
- Free Battery-Operated Golf Carts: Operating along the main pilgrim access corridors to ferry senior citizens and differently-abled devotees from outer parking lots to the main entrance gate.
- Dedicated Wheelchair Fleet: Over 150 standardized wheelchairs are stationed at the Pilgrim Facilitation Centre (PFC). Volunteers and authorized attendants assist devotees through the entire temple pathway.
- Gentle Incline Ramps & Elevators: The elevated temple plinth is fully accessible via broad marble ramps with sturdy stainless steel handrails, alongside heavy-duty passenger elevators.
- Continuous Shaded Corridors & Seating: Resting benches with drinking water dispensers (RO water) and mist fans are deployed along the walkway to prevent fatigue during warm months.
How Ayodhya DMC Assists Senior Citizen Groups
For agencies handling senior citizen yatras, our ground team pre-reserves wheelchair attendants, verifies battery cart staging, and selects hotels with guaranteed walk-in showers, western commodes, and ground-floor room allotments.
